NC12 has developed state of the art gasification technology based on processes successfully used for decades in the steel industry. A liquid metal catalytic reactor is used to process hydrocarbons such as biomass, coal, and waste products to produce clean, environmentally friendly syngas. The syngas is primarily hydrogen and carbon monoxide and is virtually free of CO2 and other complex hydrocarbons.

The NC12 process has several major advantages over existing gasification technologies - lower capital and operating cost, higher efficiency, and a shorter lead time to commercial operation. The process is also highly efficient for producing Hydrogen using a water-gas-shift reaction which separates CO2 for carbon sequestration.

NC12 has secured the rights to patents and intellectual property for this process from Quantum Catalytics. The technology was initially developed by several individuals from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who created a company that eventually sold the technology to Quantum Catalytics. The patents and intellectual property represent millions of man hours of research and development involving some of the leading scientists in the field.
