The generalized process flow diagram is similar
to other gasification trains. The process begins
with fuel prep where either a slurry or dry feedstock
material is directly injected into the reactor
along with steam and in some cases oxygen. The
proprietary liquid metal catalytic reactor design
allows for partitioning of clean syngas, sour
gas, and solids. Standardized equipment trains
are used for sour gas cleanup and other downstream
processes for combined cycle power generation
or the production of hydrogen, synthetic natural
gas, transportation fuels or chemical feedstocks.
These downstream processes may produce CO2 which
can be separated at high pressure for reduced
cost carbon sequestration as compared to conventional
gasification technologies.
