Biomass
The transition of world energy production to
a sustainable resource such as biomass is key
to a low carbon emission future. Vast world wide
renewable biomass resources are available for
development in an environmentally responsible
manner. For example, the production of ethanol
via the gasification process can be energy efficient
and accomplished with reduced green house gas
emissions.
Coal
The United States has sufficient non-petroleum
natural resources to achieve complete energy independence,
unaffected by seasonal weather, and maintain that
independence for more than 250 years. The necessary
energy, however, is locked in solid hydrocarbons
such as coal, lignite, and shale. It cannot be
accessed by the conventional combustion process
without liberating enormous quantities of pollutants
that have unacceptable health and environmental
consequences. The NC12 gasification process
provides a safe and efficient path to utilize
these abundant resources.

Waste
The liquid metal catalytic gasification technology
originally developed for waste destruction is
now a viable alternative for sustainable energy
development. Although the initial projects developed
by NC12 will use biomass or hydrocarbons
such as coal or petroleum coke, future projects
will be designed with the ability to utilize waste
resources for low cost and environmentally friendly
energy production.
